In December dark electro/EBM trio Frontal Boundary released their "Failure" album. I just finally had time to sit down and listen to it. Well ok I'll be honest. I was dancing around the kitchen while doing dishes and cooking dinner. If you put this one on, you'll be dancing too! I've been feeling super nostalgic lately and listening to a lot of 2000s cyber goth playlists. Each one of the tracks on this album wouldn't feel out of place at all! This album is truly a blast from the past, and I'm all about it. The first thing they do is introduce themselves in the first track, which I thought was really neat. There's also songs featuring Unter Null and Protokoll 19, which are both absolutely fantastic. I really hope I get to hear some of these tracks on a dancefloor somewhere, especially "Burn" and "Hate". Speaking of which, I thought it was interesting that all the songs except for "Made to Suffer" have a one word title. If you get the deluxe version of this album on Bandcamp, you also get a dozen remixes! That's super generous, as I've noticed most albums usually have a small handful of remixes, if any, or the remixes would be a separate release. So to include that many is absolutely great! I especially thought it was cool for Unter Null to remix "Hate", which is the song that they were featured in. What a neat idea, I'm not sure I've seen that happen before. Â I really can't say enough good things about this album, it truly hit every note I would look for in an album of this style, and then some!
