Our friends eHpH are back with a new album to piss off all the right people, "CORRUPTION AND FEAR". This is over an hour of oldschool industrial badassery and remixes.
The first thing I really noticed is this cover art. I'm not sure what's going on in this image, but it reminds me of welding sparks or something, which is, of course, thematically appropriate. Not only would it be some light in the dark, but also a reaction of things being struck and put under pressure. Of course I don't know if that's what is it so I'm just rambling, but that's where my mind went. Regardless, I really like this image. It's interesting and the more I look at it, the more details I see.
The album jumps right into a banger with the first track, and from there on, it's one killer track after another. I especially liked "Children of the Damned". It starts out with this bouncy synth sound that's reminiscent of the sound you hear when you walk into a cave of bats. It's a unique sound, and I love hearing things I've never heard before. I'd be surprised if it doesn't get spun on some dancefloors, not only for it's great beat, but also the lyrics are relatable.
The track "Misery" sounds like it could've been part of the ambient soundtrack for a late 70's/80's horror film. My mind instantly went to Phantasm. (If you haven't seen that film, you're seriously missing out. It's one of my absolute faves.) This song lyrically lives up to its name well, as it paints a very accurate picture of depression and hopelessness.
Another one of note for me was "Destroy!" It really stands out from the rest of the album because it just sounds so different. Most of it's comprised higher notes than the other tracks, as well as having some noise elements. It's a great final track!
Remixes are hit or miss, but all four of these are really well done! The two different remixes of "Lies", by Destructive Mechanism and Simian Breed are interesting. I love hearing different mixes of the same song and seeing what different artists do with the same source material. Both did totally unique things, and they sound totally different. The Audiobuddha remix of "The Children of the Damned" added a like futuristic robotic type sound, which I thought was a great way to go. However, the one that stood out most for me is The Elektro Ferret remix of "Bodycrash". It brings a really dancy synthpop element to the song which is otherwise just a rather straightforward industrial song. I absolutely love it!
So to sum up this rather long winded review, this whole album is really great, and I can't recommend it enough. It's one of my favorite releases so far of 2025. If you get a chance, definitely give it a listen! https://ehph.bandcamp.com/album/corruption-and-fear
